VIAN 5 - A log house was found when siding was removed - it was built in 1723 by a Mr Raub - dismantled in 1990 by owner, Jacob McCorkle, a descendent of the Raubs - Mr McCorkle kept the logs with the intention of rebuilding it elsewhere, but never did it; The following houses are the older ones that make up the villiage of Vian today - 2018; 6 - This house that belonged to the village blacksmith, was believed to have been built between 1838 and 1860; 7 - In 1948, it was believed that the house was over 100 years old by the owner, Charles Uhrich - This building housed a post office and general store at one time; 8 - This house that has a log house at it's center and was added to five times - The building date of the original house was 1806, according to the owner in 1970, but is unconfirmed; 9 - This house was also a post office at one time, according to the owner in 1970, and was built ca. 1826 - unconfirmed; 10 - The Log House of the Raub's as the siding is being removed (note the white siding at the peak of the house); |
