Because of the location beside the large, winding hill section of Park Avenue between the park and the zoo, the road was referred to as "Bowling Alley Hill" and the name "stuck" - today* most long time residents still refer to it as Bowling Alley Hill, but many recent Hershey residents are not aware of this "historic name";
